@onesnzeros:matrix.orgonesnzeros> I am looking for a mostly libre (and not necessarily 100% libre, but that would be nice if possible) version of Android for the Samsung Note 8. I am quoting my message because it got lost way up in the chat history.19:43:44

@onesnzeros:matrix.orgonesnzeros> onesnzeros made a bad purchase decision and now wants others to fix it Interestingly, many other Samsung devices were supported by mostly libre Android firmwares, so I must be really unlucky to have chosen a new at-the-time smartphone that I later wanted to install a libre Android firmware on. But still, it would be great if I won't have to ditch my Samsung Note 8. But I know for sure that my next smartphone probably won't be a Samsung device, but rather a device such as the Pixel, which is officially supported by GrapheneOS.21:20:22

Have a look at the relevant xda forum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/development

Maybe some of the developers there also published the source for their distribution. I suppose you're talking about this when you write of "libre firmware", but keep in mind most of those you'll find will rely on closed source binary blobs on your phone to work.
