@maksim:wherelinux.xyzmaksimHello Could someone help me with bromite system webview? So how do I install it https://github.com/bromite/bromite/wiki/Installing-SystemWebView Installing SystemWebView - GitHub Bromite is a Chromium fork with ad blocking and privacy enhancements; take back your browser! - bromite/bromite after https://github.com/bromite/bromite/wiki/Installing-SystemWebView I don't see Bromite there Even if I install it through F-droid do I need to move it to /system before checking?18:01:29

@srr24x7:envs.netsrr24x7I'm not sure what you mean by "through F-droid". Bromite's webview is a replacement for the original android webview. You will have to replace a system component on your phone.18:15:25
@srr24x7:envs.netsrr24x7And you will need root rights to do that.18:16:16

nevermind the several other protocols this room is bridged wirh

It's not really the responsibility of users to consider if message x, content y or function z works for what ever broken bridge. It's the responsibility of the room owner to get a working bridge for whatever other side they want to bridge.

18:18:47
@srr24x7:envs.netsrr24x7In the first place, I don't even know what places this room is bridged to. (If there's one thing Matrix has issues with, it's that there's no consistent system for bridges and clients don't make their usage clear and obvious to users.)18:18:59

@srr24x7:envs.netsrr24x7Nor am I going to bother and check that every time I switch the room. Do you know how many rooms I'm in? Am I supposed to keep a table at hand so I can check and decide if my message works for whatever room I'm in at the moment before I send my message? That would be ridiculous.18:19:28
@srr24x7:envs.netsrr24x7Also stickers are one reason why I'm on my matrix client right now and not my xmpp client. My xmpp client is collecting dust for good reasons.18:19:39
@srr24x7:envs.netsrr24x7

because they are disruptive, because reactions work much better, and because they aren't sent across the bridge to the other protocols this chatroom sits in, creating confusion.

That's exactly what you call a broken bridge.

18:19:46
@srr24x7:envs.netsrr24x7Stickers as type "m.sticker" are an official part of the spec and as such should be fully supported by bridges. If whatever system is on the other side doesn't allow for some equivalent of a sticker, then it can simply send the sticker content body which in case of the sticker I had sent earlier would be "Blobcat with no sign". Mark it as [image/png] "Blobcat with no sign" et voilà done. Technically there's no reason this couldn't be solved. That's what qualifies your bridge as broken.18:20:02

@festplattenschnitzel:matrix.orgFestplattenSchnitzel TIL adb backup / restore does not work on Android 12+ anymore https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/231235/does-adb-backup-restore-still-work-because-it-says-its-deprecated . Quite frustrating when you need it in order to restore an in-app-purchase on a GMS-free device / ROM. 09:02:59

@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaI'm laughing at how the pop-up explicitly disallows you from using generated explanations or so in MRs you make to GitLab. I can't think of a better thing showing that they know this isn't necessarily a good idea than this19:40:21
