juri_ | :) | 22:00:49 |
Sylvia | I don't think this is bikeshedding though and personally I would like stuff that increases the bus factor to have some priority ^^ | 22:02:56 |
juri_ | didn't think it was. just thought the only input i had were worse ideas. :) | 22:04:37 |
Sylvia | Bad ideas are better than no ideas, because if you get 5 bad ideas you at least have 1 least-awful idea :D | 22:08:00 |
jochensp | Sylvia: can you add information on how much it would cost? Did you contact them for discounts, the missing information..? | 22:11:48 |
Sylvia | I have no clue about costs because I don't even know how big the current mail info is. And nope I didn't contact any yet, I was hoping we may have people here already using some of the services given they all claim to be privacy-friendly and stuff | 22:16:11 |

FestplattenSchnitzel | In reply to @eighthave:matrix.org FestplattenSchnitzel: have you see strctyaml? Seems like it could be a good approach for metadata ,yml files https://hitchdev.com/strictyaml/features-removed/ Yes, I've seen it, but I don't think we should use it for the metadata files for the following reasons:
- a lot of the problems mentioned got fixed with YAML 1.2 (esp. the yes, no, on, off boolean thing)
- I'd prefer using JSON rather than StrictYAML schema
What would make sense is restricting which YAML features are allowed in the metadata files (maybe ruamel.yaml has such an option), however rewritemeta should catch this.

_hc | proletarius101: good news, gitlab is maintaining docker machine, so the auto-scaling setup is no longer deprecated https://docs.gitlab.com/runner/executors/docker_machine.html#forked-version-of-docker-machine | 07:44:16 |
proletarius101 | In reply to @eighthave:matrix.org proletarius101: good news, gitlab is maintaining docker machine, so the auto-scaling setup is no longer deprecated https://docs.gitlab.com/runner/executors/docker_machine.html#forked-version-of-docker-machine They maintain that for years. Now they are considering deprecating it | 07:47:42 |
_hc | they say there they are maintaining it, just not adding new features | 07:48:34 |
proletarius101 | In reply to @eighthave:matrix.org they say there they are maintaining it, just not adding new features Yes, before they posted the deprecation issue I their repo | 07:51:14 |
proletarius101 | The wiki is a bit outdated | 07:51:23 |
_hc | that link is their official docs, they generally do a good job of maintaining those | 07:52:20 |
_hc | I think they changed their mind and decided that they would maintain docker-machine to keep runner auto-scaling | 07:54:40 |
_hc | its such a key feature, I can understand them doing that to keep it | 07:54:58 |
proletarius101 | see https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab/-/issues/341856 | 07:56:02 |
_hc | sounds to me like they are still using Docker Machine to run gitlab.com's runners | 07:58:10 |
proletarius101 | In reply to @eighthave:matrix.org sounds to me like they are still using Docker Machine to run gitlab.com's runners Yes nothing have been done | 07:58:48 |
_hc | did you look at the Kubernetes setup? | 07:59:34 |
proletarius101 | In reply to @eighthave:matrix.org did you look at the Kubernetes setup? Yes that's usable for a while | 08:00:19 |
