@_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.orgLicaon_Kter[xmpp] > I guess everyone just hoped the other one will be the bad person...and remove the app 09:44:01
@_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.orgLicaon_Kter[xmpp] Let's be honest...what was your reaction Sylvia to me when I disable only some versions of Element? :) 09:44:01
@_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.orgLicaon_Kter[xmpp] > I don't get it. I thought MapLibre literally included the library? That is why we made Element remove it too? 09:44:27
@_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.orgLicaon_Kter[xmpp] > (Well, add the exclude) 09:44:27
@_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.orgLicaon_Kter[xmpp]This needs testing and knowledge and upstream input09:44:27
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaWell Element was responsive to fix the issue and created a high prio ticket for themselves. I see no update to this other app in 3 months and no issue on their GitHub? So quite a different thing?09:45:26
@_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.orgLicaon_Kter[xmpp] Sylvia: got it, expand all the threads and read https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroiddata/-/merge_requests/10991 09:45:35
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaIf Element wanted 3 months to fix it I wouldn't be patient either?09:46:15
@_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.orgLicaon_Kter[xmpp] I'll be the bad maintainer and disable that app too, I'm getting flack for adding AFs as usual, this is in character :)) 09:49:02
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaBut have we told Ehrenamtskarte Bayern they're non-compliant? Because again I see no GitHub issue on their tracker09:49:11
@_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.orgLicaon_Kter[xmpp]Their dev knows, see link09:49:33
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaWell if they aren't caring to fix it then... boot it out09:50:02
@_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.orgLicaon_Kter[xmpp] Sylvia: feel free 09:50:44
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaElement was a special case because they took it seriously the moment they were notified and committed a fix within a week (but no new release yet sadly)09:50:46
@_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.orgLicaon_Kter[xmpp]We need a policy for this too I guess09:51:30
@_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.orgLicaon_Kter[xmpp]So things are clear, how long do we wait?09:51:41
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylvia
In reply to @_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.org
Sylvia: feel free
Later, when I get behind my laptop and properly read the whole GitLab issue to see what the Ehrenambtskarte dev actually knows and said
09:53:36
@_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.orgLicaon_Kter[xmpp]👍09:54:11
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylvia

So things are clear, how long do we wait?
Well... not 3 months? But it looks like the Ehrenambtskarte person was only notified 2 weeks ago and didn't seem against fixing it? But again, need to read more detail
09:54:41
@_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.orgLicaon_Kter[xmpp] Sylvia: the fix is not clear to me, or was not 09:55:28
@rdfg77:kde.orglinsuihttps://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroiddata/-/merge_requests/11111 Wow, 11111. Am I do it in the right way? It seems we didn't rebrand an app except Firefox.10:04:26
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylvia
In reply to @_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.org
We need a policy for this too I guess
I think 1 month would be a nice grace period to default to, should give anyone who cares enough time to release a non-tainted version. Especially given if the app has already been released it is kinda "our fault" too. Although if devs do this more often we should be more strict which is why I want to kinda avoid an official policy because some devs would take that as "their right to have 1 month to always fix it"
10:27:13
@_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.orgLicaon_Kter[xmpp] Sylvia: I would not agree to that much. Imagine play services slips in via flutter dart something. You'd want users to be able to install it more? 10:31:45
@_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.orgLicaon_Kter[xmpp]Imho we should inform upstream and disable right away. It helps no one to promote a non-free version.10:32:23
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaThat would be a fair policy too10:33:51
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaSome consistency would be good indeed10:34:15
@_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.orgLicaon_Kter[xmpp]Right10:47:23
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviahttps://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroiddata/-/merge_requests/11114 hereby disabled10:55:33
@_oftc_Licaon_Kter[xmpp]:matrix.orgLicaon_Kter[xmpp] While for Element the exclude thing fixed it, for these flutter apps it's not clear to me how to fix them. Iirc that other floss fork is unmaintained and whatnot 11:07:47
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaSimpleLogin's build failed because of https://github.com/simple-login/Simple-Login-Android/commit/9c29ff6549521d80264f5ec04577c9d6ec901917. And I'm just wondering: when do we actually "trust" a Maven repo? Because it seems to be one of the "core Kotlin repos" and I also do understand devs want to move away from jCenter12:22:47
