Mathijs | we want it there anyway, right? | 20:32:41 |
Mathijs | since we're going to bridge to oftc later | 20:32:49 |
cdesai | https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-appservice-irc/issues/1323 | 20:33:21 |
Mathijs (F-droid) | ah, I see | 20:34:34 |
Mathijs (F-droid) | the libera bridge is probably going to look very pretty on matrix-side, by the way | 20:34:52 |
Mathijs (F-droid) | they've set up a matrix server for libera.chat to host the bridge | 20:35:04 |
Mathijs (F-droid) | which means you should be able to join libera irc rooms by their name with :libera.chat on matrix side later | 20:35:38 |
| Mathijs invited @oftc-irc:matrix.org. | 21:09:22 |
| @oftc-irc:matrix.org joined the room. | 21:09:23 |
| Mathijschanged room power levels. | 21:09:23 |
Mathijs | and, indeed this doesn't work due to the freenode bridge bot | 21:09:40 |
Mathijs | tl;dr: we can set up our own irc bridge on matrix.f-droid.org | 21:10:00 |
Mathijs | or we can wait for the load of the matrix.org bridge admins to lighten enough to help us out | 21:10:22 |
cdesai | In reply to @mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.com tl;dr: we can set up our own irc bridge on matrix.f-droid.org this would then need some co-ordination with irc admins though to allow that kind of traffic from us | 21:10:55 |
Mathijs | for this room that's probably not really that big a deal | 21:11:19 |
Mathijs | but for #fdroid:f-droid.org it probably needs some talks, yeah | 21:11:37 |

proletarius101 | I proposed that apps in fdroiddata should submit their adaptive icons to have better illustration: https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroiddata/-/issues/2392 | 02:10:19 |
proletarius101 | Both for the app itself and the overall looking of fdoidclient | 02:10:48 |
proletarius101 | * Good for both the app itself and the overall looking of fdoidclient | 02:11:22 |
proletarius101 | After the bootstrap script creating the host environment, do you know what invokes fdroid build? _hc | 02:37:31 |
| @sphinxcat:matrix.org joined the room. | 06:26:54 |
_hc | proletarius101: you mean in production? manual or crontab | 09:30:55 |
_hc | 幸猫: about doing sysadmining for F-Droid, are you looking for something to do every now and then? Or more something you can own as the lead on it? | 13:07:01 |
@LjL:matrix.org | cde, Mathijs : FYI, I emailed support@matrix.org as instructed on #irc:matrix.org and other places (such as #libera-matrix on Libera) to get rid of @appservice-irc:matrix.org for the purpose of re-bridging or even just to get rid of it since rooms are unbridged anyway and it looks ugly and misleading and I'm not happy with it being Admin. While I was there listing a number of room IDs, I also included #fdroid, which is why this might be relevant to you. I got this email in response: | 16:19:48 |
@LjL:matrix.org | We have received a lot if Freenode related requests the past couple of days. We will work our way through them in the order they came in.
In order to speed up the processing of your case, please make sure we have a way of verifying you as the rightful owner of the room(s) you are asking about. For example by putting the sender email on the official website or GitHub page for your project.
Please respond to this email to complete a 3-way handshake for email sender verification, and include any links or resources we can use to verify you as described above. | 16:19:56 |
@LjL:matrix.org | I can't do that for most of my rooms as they aren't "projects", and I can't do that for F-Droid unless someone else done, but even then I'm not super-happy with my email being shown on websites. Anyway, I also don't get why they are requiring this, when the bot is just there as a result of a bug: the rooms are unbridged, and it just didn't remove itself automatically as it is kind of supposed to. Why does it need any authorization to do what it's supposed to? | 16:21:31 |
Mathijs | I already have a support ticket for the fdroid rooms | 16:21:39 |
Mathijs | But we'll see which one will turn up first | 16:22:06 |
@LjL:matrix.org | Mathijs: not sure if you are in #irc:matrix.org but I was told that if I have my email linked to my Matrix account on matrix.org (which I do), I can tell that to them in my reply email, and it should be sufficient. So I will do that | 16:34:22 |
@LjL:matrix.org | At the same time I really feel this is needlessy bureucratic: the expected and desired behavior is for the appservice bot to go away when unlinking a room. If it didn't do that, that's a (recognized) bug. So it should just be removed, there is no need to verify anyone... | 16:34:57 |
