@smichel17:matrix.orgsmichel17I realize that this is maybe more a "python ecosystem is a mess" problem than anything f-droid specific, but it's still the biggest barrier to my actually contributing :(14:05:20
@eighthave:matrix.org_hc smichel17: yeah, pip is not for the uninitiated. 14:09:59
@eighthave:matrix.org_hcmaybe this is easier for you https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroidserver/blob/master/.gitlab-ci.yml#L21314:10:05
@eighthave:matrix.org_hcits the CI run for Fedora14:10:42
@smichel17:matrix.orgsmichel17That is helpful, thank you. I'll still need to spend some time, but it's something concrete to work off of :)14:30:10
@freenode_izzy:matrix.orgizzy _hc: feel free to close that Lucia MR then. That's why I asked. It's one thing if I have it in my repo (as that's a "personal repo") – but a different issue for F-Droid itself. 14:33:06
@freenode_izzy:matrix.orgizzy As for my issuebot MR: yes please! I could not test it in a "real run" yet – but in the worst case, it's easily disabled I guess. Not that I think that would be needed. I'm really curious how the report integrates, so I can fine-tune it. 14:34:43
@freenode_izzy:matrix.orgizzy Would also be interesting to see a few example output files from other modules, if some could be "captured". 14:35:11
@eighthave:matrix.org_hc izzy: I won't veto Lucia, but that's my opnion 15:07:32
@eighthave:matrix.org_hc smichel17: a Fedora package for fdroidserver would be very welcome, its packaged for Debian and homebrew, so it should be pretty easy to do. Sylvia is also on Fedora. I've basically never used the whole RedHat side of GNU/Linux 15:10:58
@eighthave:matrix.org_hcits been slackware and Debian-derivs for me15:11:16
@freenode_izzy:matrix.orgizzy _hc: I'm partly with you there, but I'm still undecided. Waiting for other opinions then. 15:12:15
@eighthave:matrix.org_hcI am very much supportive of adversarial security actions like that, if done properly15:12:55
@obfusk:matrix.org幸猫 fwiw I agree with _hc 15:52:27
@freenode_izzy:matrix.orgizzySo am I. The only problem is where exactly to draw the line.15:52:37
@obfusk:matrix.org幸猫yeah, that's the hard part. atm the impression I get is that actually *using* the app would fall more into the realm of circumventing public health policy than protecting privacy and/or doing security research.15:55:17
@obfusk:matrix.org幸猫[not sure if this is the right channel, let me know if not] I noticed that Firefox/Fennec has a new upstream release that's not yet in fdroiddata. can I help with that? who should I talk to?15:58:52

@relan is the maintainer, you can report everything about fennec in https://gitlab.com/relan/fennecbuild
16:05:22
@smichel17:matrix.orgsmichel17Maybe the "source code" and "issue tracker" links should be changed to point there 🤔16:07:07

linsui: I saw you came and went. We also can have discussion in this channel if that works better for you
I didn't see anyone using vedio or audio there and only few text message😅 so I thought there are some issues in my Firefox. I heard that jitsi doesn't work well with Firefox but I'm not sure if it's still true.

There are only some build scripts.
16:11:24
@rdfg77:kde.orglinsuiIssues about firefox itself should go to upstream issue tracker.16:12:49
@smichel17:matrix.orgsmichel17How is a user supposed to know if a bug exists upstream or is the result of one of the modifications from the build scripts?16:16:01
@smichel17:matrix.orgsmichel17

Also, to quote http://kmkeen.com/maintainers-matter/,

The maintainer is the primary line of defence and interaction between users and developers. Maintainers shield developers from uninformed users, allowing the devs to write software with less support overhead. Non-bugs are caught and filtered out. Low-quality bugs reported to the distribution's tracker often becomes a good bug when the maintainer reports it upstream.

16:17:01
@smichel17:matrix.orgsmichel17Although maybe when upstream is Mozilla and downstream is one person, that's less important 😅16:17:31
@freenode_kempe:matrix.orgkempe left the room.16:18:27

Just install both of them and test.
16:25:06
@smichel17:matrix.orgsmichel17Ah, that pesky j-word16:25:31
@rdfg77:kde.orglinsuiThere are too many issues in upstream issue tracker and all bugs from Mozilla I found have been reported.😅16:27:26
