izzy | Waa, what a pity. Right after our meeting I check my mail and find MobilSicher asking if they could join us today :( Told them just to show up any time they want, no prior confirmation needed :) | 14:14:15 |
Fay (she/her) | In reply to @festplattenschnitzel:matrix.org FSFE offers promotion material here https://fsfe.org/contribute/spreadtheword.de.html#. Maybe you can add the sticker there … I'm curious: what sticker? (I used to be on the FSFE core team 😅) | 15:26:48 |
_hc | uniq made a design, maybe he'll post it here | 16:01:50 |

izzy | I'd happily attack d!8808 (which is already in my repo) – but would rather have a second opinion first if we can accept it. It's kinda "gray zone": necessary for privacy protection in certain situations, but also kind of "civil disobedience". And yes, the name of the app is playing at the name of a controversial other app. Are we all fine with it? | 02:11:04 |

_hc | izzy: I think it is important to publish apps that expose security vulneratiblities, but those kinds of apps need to do it responsibly. That means publicizing the app for that reason, and why its being done | 05:50:52 |
_hc | so the app isn't necessarily problematic, but the way they are framing it is | 05:51:12 |
_hc | seems like they are sneaking around rather than being up front and forthright | 05:52:04 |
_hc | 幸猫: do you have any interest in writing a blog post for f-droid.org on apksigcopier integration? I'm thinking there could either be a joint blog post, where it takes about the apksigcopier integration and the wider CI updates. Or those could be two separate ones. Or you could just send me some text, and I could turn it into blog psots | 06:05:51 |
izzy | _hc: not sure whom you mean with "sneaking" (the original certainly was/is massively, not sure if you followed that). And it might be dangerous to counter that too openly – which is why the other one phrases it that carefully. | 09:47:03 |

Currently I do not plan to develop this app any further. It does what it was made for. I expect the "real" app to advance and it is likely that the Lucia app will stop working some time in the future if the QR code format of the "real" app changes. I may or may not adjust the Lucia app to be compatible with any new or other features of the "real" app. that is not responsible disclosure

I've created the app mainly out of curiosity. I

smichel17 | _hc: Following the install instructions on fdroid.org/docs is exactly where I get stuck :P. https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroidserver/-/issues/829#note_553646022 | 13:39:13 |
_hc | smichel17: what OS/distro are you using? | 13:39:54 |
smichel17 | _hc: Fedora | 13:44:28 |
smichel17 | _hc: I don't mind doing research to translate Debian instructions into Fedora-ese (e.g. find dnf packages corresponding to apt, or reading the docs of whatever tools I should be using) | 13:49:16 |
smichel17 | I do mind not even knowing what tools I should be using. I'm not willing to read the docs of every python dependency management tool to figure out which one is the right one to use | 13:49:46 |
smichel17 | The more important bullet at the end of https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroidserver/-/issues/829#note_553646022 is the one-line summary. Goal, tool, files it touches | 13:50:49 |
smichel17 | I'm happy to put the rest together myself | 13:50:59 |
smichel17 | As an example, from the installing doc:
pip3 install fdroidserver
What does pip3 install fdroidserver actually accomplish here? Is it installing a packaged version from pypi, or using my setup.py to install the local version of the code?
