@obfusk:matrix.org | what's the "best practice"/"policy" regarding forks/patches? there's an fdroid app for which I've proposed a PR upstream that adds a tiny bit of functionality (that allows it to integrate with one of my fdroid apps) which is really useful to me, and I think other fdroid users as well. but it's been 6 months, and still no response. I could fork it (I'm already running a forked version myself), but having two almost identical versions in the repo seems silly (and I'm not sure if you can export all data, so you'd lose some when switching). | 15:07:14 |
@obfusk:matrix.org | In reply to @eighthave:matrix.org CI boxes aren't really a juicy target the fdroid ones, maybe. but free CI has been abused by cryptominers. | 15:10:26 |
@obfusk:matrix.org | In reply to @eighthave:matrix.org 幸猫: I think the main thing is for someone to take ownership of some of those boxes let me know how you want to handle that :) | 15:12:02 |
Passiing | In reply to @eighthave:matrix.org also, its puts localized apps first That's why I was getting so much localized app on top 😲 | 15:14:42 |

Pretty sure it's more of your wish, there's syncthing-fork with very minimal difference | 15:16:20 |

@obfusk:matrix.org | In reply to @stencil:matrix.org Pretty sure it's more of your wish, there's syncthing-fork with very minimal difference syncthing-fork has "major enhancements", that seems worth a fork. my case is about a very small patch. | 17:09:52 |

Mathijs | In reply to @SylvieLorxu:matrix.org Oh interesting yeah yeah, we host matrix static on matrix.f-droid.org | 20:20:59 |
Mathijs | so there's no need to migrate that away from freenode | 20:21:18 |
Mathijs | (and the whole issue with freenode is also a reason to host an f-droid matrix server, so even if the matrix.org homeserver would get compromised, we'll still be just fine on this fdroid room) | 20:36:12 |
