:(
12:23:56
@mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.comMathijsalso: if it's so bad, why would you fork it rather than help maintain?12:25:17
@mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.comMathijsI guess that is what bothers me the most: complain about f-droid being unmaintained, but then not helping out, but rather start your own thing to compete with f-droid12:30:59
@mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.comMathijsI'm not about to simply trust this guy with my app-store, but I would happily run f-droid with MR's from him in there12:31:37
@freenode_izzy_:matrix.orgizzy_ mathijs: talking about G*? 12:33:39
@mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.comMathijsyeah12:38:52
@freenode_izzy_:matrix.orgizzy_ strange guy. Despite better knowledge he still claims we "punish developers". While I first greeted an alternative client, his behavior made me ignore him. Trust gone. 12:53:16
@mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.comMathijsagreed, though I wouldn't have used his app to replace f-droid in the first place, as it's a project by a single guy that's new and thus not vetted in any way12:57:16
@mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.comMathijsit would have been so much better if he just contributed to f-droid itself12:57:31

It's far easier to work on something you control instead of contributing upstream. No need to discuss anything for 200 hours, etc. I can totally understand that. And it's a healthy ecosystem when there are more clients. And I tried g-droid again yesterday, it works very well.

@bubuiic:matrix.orgMarcus (old)But his attitude, especially in the comment I linked is really, really bad.13:00:14
@mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.comMathijsHaving an alternative to f-droid is not the issue13:00:35
@bubuiic:matrix.orgMarcus (old)like not reporting alleged security vulnerabilities out of spite? WTF?13:00:38
@mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.comMathijsthe amount of shade he throws on f-droid is what rubs me the wrong way13:00:53
@mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.comMathijsI wouldn't use his version either way13:01:05
@mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.comMathijsbut if you're so negative about f-droid, and publically so to talk up your own product13:01:32
@mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.comMathijsreally, that's just wrong13:01:36
@mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.comMathijsand the 200 hours discussion is part of the reason I'd choose f-droid over gdroid in the first place13:02:09
@freenode_izzy_:matrix.orgizzy_ > the amount of shade he throws on f-droid is what rubs me the wrong way 13:02:13
@freenode_izzy_:matrix.orgizzy_Exactly that.13:02:16
@mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.comMathijswhile (very) annoying, it means that more than 1 person actually looked at the code13:02:28
@mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.comMathijswhich means I can actaully trust the code to perform an important job on my phone13:02:43
@freenode_izzy_:matrix.orgizzy_ Which with his attitude I'm not sure I do. 13:03:06
@mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.comMathijs(well, trust it more anyway :))13:03:08
