Bubu | Hmpf, vagrant libvirt isn't working at all for me | 16:05:42 |
| * Bubu hates vagrant with a passion | 16:06:10 |

Bubu | vagrant libvirt is currently barely maintained | 17:24:38 |
Bubu | so I guess it's unlikely it'll support my nftables firewall setup anytime soon :-/ | 17:24:58 |
_hc | hmm, strange, it generally works quite easily for me | 17:39:07 |
_hc | ah, you have a firewall setup on your machine, then yeah, it'll be hard to do virtualized networking | 17:39:37 |
_hc | also with plain libvirt or VirtualBox | 17:39:54 |
Bubu | it's usually relatively easy do debug what goes wrong when using libvirt | 17:42:36 |
Bubu | but through vagrant that's totally opaque | 17:42:50 |
Bubu | now the archlinux basebox works. the fdroid basebox doesn't 😿 | 17:43:17 |
cdesai | https://developer.android.com/android11 | 17:56:16 |
cdesai | Android 11 Beta is here | 17:56:16 |
cdesai | I'd love if we can get F-Droid to target API 30 by the time it's launched :) | 17:56:36 |
Bubu | _hc: I think we can also finally throw away all the sdk provisioning. If any package still doesn't work with the gradle auto install, they can set this up in the recipe | 18:18:57 |
Bubu | wtf, there's now ndk r21d... | 19:14:35 |
_hc | cdesai: I think no one is opposed to the idea in principle, someone just needs to go through the changes and deal with them, test them etc. | 19:17:24 |
cdesai | _hc: yeah, I left some minor comments a week or so ago | 19:17:59 |
_hc | there is that issue to track what needs to happen to bump the target SDK, is that where you commented? | 19:18:32 |
cdesai | c!881 - on the MR directly. went through that and the upstream roboelectric issue, haven't tested yet. | 19:23:39 |
[gibot] | [client] !881: WIP: Update Android Gradle plugin to 3.6.3 and ta… - https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroidclient/merge_requests/881 | 19:23:39 |
_hc | man wtf every time I come back to android dev, it takes like an hour just to reopen a project and get it running it. Why does gradle and all the deps need to be redownloaded all the time | 20:25:38 |
wb9688 | Because new versions… | 20:30:13 |
wb9688 | But yeah, I have exactly the same issue | 20:30:23 |
_hc | ah no, I haven't changed the gradle or jar versions | 20:30:35 |
wb9688 | Hmm… then I have no idea. Do you not clear ~/.gradle or wherever it caches that stuff? | 20:31:18 |
wb9688 | Plus Android Studio in general is a piece of crap imho. I could rant about it for hours, though there unfortunately isn't anything better for Android development I think. | 20:32:54 |
cdesai | $EDITOR /s | 20:34:34 |
wb9688 | cdesai: Well, NeoVim is nice and all, but for Android (or Java in general) I need some "IntelliSense" (or whatever you want to call it). I think there's that Eclipse-based language server, but I'm not sure how good that (and the language server plug-ins for NeoVim) is. I'm also missing the (pretty worthless anyway) layout preview and I have no idea how to do restart activity without Android Studio. That | 20:38:29 |
wb9688 | also doesn't solve the numerous issues with the Android Emulator. | 20:38:34 |
