In Izzy's article, they use German quotation marks „ “ in English. Should I keep this in Chinese translation?
„ “ are not used in American or British English, only " ". I can't speak for other official English standards. The blog is British English currently.
07:21:16
@rdfg77:kde.orglinsuiWe want to fix this typo, but currenly it requires some work to fix a typo in a published string.07:22:18
@rdfg77:kde.orglinsuiThe problem is that the origin string is the key of the translations on weblate. If the key is changed, all translations are marked as incomplete. (Am I correct?)07:23:18
@rdfg77:kde.orglinsui An option provided by _hc is removing blog posts from weblate. 07:24:14
@rdfg77:kde.orglinsuiThen our translators need to translate them on Gitlab. This should work for blog posts since they are rarely updated.07:24:59
@rdfg77:kde.orglinsuiAnd as a translator I also feel that it's convient to translate such long articles locally.07:26:10
@rdfg77:kde.orglinsuiOne concern is that our translators may be not familiar with Gitlab and its workflow.07:26:43
@eighthave:matrix.org_hcYeah, I wouldn't want using gitlab-only for blog posts to become a blocker.07:27:56
@eighthave:matrix.org_hcIt could work that translators who don't know git and/or gitlab could just submit Markdown files to someone to review who does know gitlab.07:28:57
@eighthave:matrix.org_hcMost translators are not translating the blog posts: https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/f-droid/website-posts/07:29:07
@eighthave:matrix.org_hcfor example, submitting translations via a contributor might be easy for Chinese, Russian, German, Romanian, Dutch, etc. since there are existing contributors who speak these languages.07:30:38
@eighthave:matrix.org_hcWe also have git-savvy translators for some other languages07:32:05
@rdfg77:kde.orglinsuiThat's possible of course. But it's more difficult than simply opening the weblate and picking up a string.07:32:16
@rdfg77:kde.orglinsuiAnd if the translator want to just fix a little typo they may feel it's too much bother.07:34:14
@eighthave:matrix.org_hcFixing a typo is easier in Wbelate?07:35:09
@rdfg77:kde.orglinsuiIf they are familiar with gitlab it's not a problem.07:35:32
@eighthave:matrix.org_hcMaybe some translators don'y know about this feature: in the bottom right (left on RtL) there is a link to directly edit: https://f-droid.org/zh_Hans/2022/11/30/upcoming-alpha-release-of-f-droid-client.html07:36:32
@eighthave:matrix.org_hcthat could be changed to take someone straight to the gitlab.com editor.07:36:48
@rdfg77:kde.orglinsuiBut if they already have a weblate account since they have translated many other components, they need to get a gitlab account or find someone who has that to fix a typo in the blog post.07:36:55
@eighthave:matrix.org_hcI would love to see more translators interacting on gitlab merge requests and issues.07:37:31
@rdfg77:kde.orglinsuiAnd yes, if we want to switch to gitlab completely we need to replace the button.07:37:35

Is the F-Droid Telegram room controled by a member who has left?
It's controlled by a Telegram FOSS maintainer: @thermatk
07:38:07
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylvia(Only person who has access to that)07:39:11
@rdfg77:kde.orglinsuiSomeone I never see in the room...07:40:11
@eighthave:matrix.org_hcI think you could ping them on gitlab07:40:30
@rdfg77:kde.orglinsui But I thought it would be better to have a member managing the room. Sylvia is more active here obviously. 07:41:37
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaFine by me :)07:42:33
@rdfg77:kde.orglinsuiThough it seems the Telegram room of F-Droid works well for years.07:42:38
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaYeah it has07:42:56
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaI think it may just be more confusing to get changes done when needed if we have inconsistent admins for different rooms but that is my only concern07:43:36
