linsui | going out on a limb | 15:45:18 |
Fay (she/her) | In reply to @rdfg77:kde.org going out on a limb it means taking a risk, making a guess. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/go_out_on_a_limb#English | 15:47:17 |
linsui | What risk do we take when publish the procedure? | 15:48:51 |
Mathijs | In reply to @rdfg77:kde.org I guess Mathijs needs to do something on the Matrix side. Yes, this is on me, but I am currently packing up to go on vacation | 15:48:55 |
Mathijs | So kind of busy, unfortunately | 15:49:07 |
linsui | Maybe you can add FC (they/them) as admin to do that? Or other access is required? | 15:50:16 |
Fay (she/her) | In reply to @rdfg77:kde.org What risk do we take when publish the procedure? that it turns out we got something wrong because we didn't have existing documentation to rely on and had to figure it our ourselves. I think. | 15:50:55 |
Fay (she/her) | if you want to know what it means exactly, you'll have to ask the person that wrote it ;p | 15:51:41 |
linsui | I'm confused why publishing it is risky... | 15:54:10 |
linsui | In reply to @obfusk:matrix.org if you want to know what it means exactly, you'll have to ask the person that wrote it ;p Good idea :) | 15:54:18 |
Fay (she/her) | In reply to @rdfg77:kde.org I'm confused why publishing it is risky... "going out on a limb" implies doing something that involves a certain amount of uncertainty as to whether it's correct. trying something even if you're not sure you'll get it right, having to take a guess at some point. that's the risk. we did something new. we could have overlooked something important. we're taking the risk of publishing what we did so other people can learn from it, with the risk of finding out we overlooked something. | 15:57:50 |
Fay (she/her) | not sure how well that translates ;p | 15:59:18 |
linsui | I thought I understand it now. I'll discuss this with other Chinese translators. Thanks :) | 16:00:05 |
Fay (she/her) | I suppose it's more about uncertainty that you got it right than risk as in doing something dangerous. | 16:00:25 |
Fay (she/her) | In reply to @rdfg77:kde.org I thought I understand it now. I'll discuss this with other Chinese translators. Thanks :) np. would be curious as to how you end up translating that in Chinese :) | 16:01:02 |
Fay (she/her) | In reply to @mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.com So kind of busy, unfortunately fair enough. can you give us some idea of when you'll be able to? | 16:32:06 |
Mathijs | I happen to have a bit of time now | 20:56:51 |
Mathijs | otherwise I'll be on vacation for about 2 weeks | 20:57:06 |
Mathijs | though I may have an internet connection on the boat every once in a while | 20:57:22 |
Mathijs | what we need is someone on the irc-side with mod | 20:59:37 |
Mathijs | FC (they/them): you created the OFTC channel, right? | 21:00:21 |
Mathijs | I think that means you have mod rights there | 21:00:29 |
Fay (she/her) | In reply to @mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.com FC (they/them): you created the OFTC channel, right? yes. #fdroid-translators. | 21:01:11 |
Mathijs | right | 21:01:19 |
Fay (she/her) | In reply to @mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.com I think that means you have mod rights there currently not connected. but I have ops if I do. | 21:01:29 |
Mathijs | do you have some time to set it up? | 21:01:30 |
Mathijs | shouldn't take too long | 21:01:36 |
Mathijs | (I hope 😇) | 21:01:43 |
Fay (she/her) | sure | 21:01:47 |
Fay (she/her) | just let me know what to do. | 21:02:18 |
