@uniq:matrix.orgmichaeloh, sorry, I meant boost of course16:07:43
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaI am having second thoughts again because drip on F-Droid is outdated and that feels weird :/ Although old versions can be perfectly serviceable16:46:16
@uniq:matrix.orgmichaelI don't know either16:47:39
@uniq:matrix.orgmichaelwe're in a strange spot16:47:56
@uniq:matrix.orgmichael* we're in a strange spot16:48:11
@uniq:matrix.orgmichaelmy wife doesn't update apps for years16:48:34
@uniq:matrix.orgmichaelbecause she hates ui changes16:48:45
@uniq:matrix.orgmichaelI get that that's not representative16:49:02
@uniq:matrix.orgmichaelbut I suspect only pedantic nerds care about updates as long as everything just works16:49:34
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaI mean we do kinda invite "why is it outdated" questions which we can only reply to with "build system issues" which is a bit... dumb16:51:10
@uniq:matrix.orgmichaelBut I suspect a lot of FDroid users to be pedantic about updates16:51:13
@uniq:matrix.orgmichaelyeah :/16:51:36
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylvia

From one day to the next, 'innocent data' shared with advertisers may suddenly become a tool of prosecution. By reviewing apps for trackers and only allowing Open Source (and thus auditable) apps, F-Droid helps ensure people stay in control over their data, no matter who they are or where they live.

16:51:48
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaI do still like this one actually16:51:53
@uniq:matrix.orgmichaelYes, good message, well written, me too :)16:52:24
@uniq:matrix.orgmichaelwe could also do both within a week16:52:52
@uniq:matrix.orgmichaelI've boosted you now 😅😁16:56:55
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaSo looking through drip issues more and...17:05:32
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaOf course linsui is on the case with a reply less than 24 hours ago17:05:43
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaMan, the F-Droid data team is amazing17:05:52
@uniq:matrix.orgmichaeloh damn, not sure if I understood that correctly, but looks like somebody uses our name to push hate-speach apps: https://forum.f-droid.org/t/f-droid-in-the-news-odysee-launches-f-droid-app-and-android-apk/1864123:41:03
@uniq:matrix.orgmichaelI think we should platform/spread this in any way. But we should think about establishing counter measures :s23:42:26
@uniq:matrix.orgmichaela registered trademark could help us defend our name, us too bad we don't have one23:43:21
@uniq:matrix.orgmichael* a registered trademark could protect, us too bad we don't have one23:43:38
@uniq:matrix.orgmichael* a registered trademark could help us defend our name, us too bad we don't have one23:44:07
@uniq:matrix.orgmichael* I think we should not platform/spread this in any way. But we should think about establishing counter measures :s23:44:45

@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaYeah not super happy with Odysee getting merged but it's not quite Gab level it seems given they're on Google Play too. It is quite difficult when they're not as obvious. But yeah definitely an app we shouldn't promote in news or whatever04:08:29
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaI think in this case we may be best off just not thinking much about it for now, we'll probably read it in the news when Google kicks them out and then can look at if it breaches what Hans blogged once about hate speech apps and not tolerating it. But it is hard to do something while Google is still hosting them too04:11:58
@SylvieLorxu:matrix.orgSylviaFor counter-measures, I am not sure what would make sense. It is very hard to make a real point against platforms like these that are generally staying within the rules but purposefully push the narrative more towards hate speech while keeping it under "realistic concerns" :/05:50:37
