Coffee | In reply to @mathijs:matrix.vgorcum.com says @Coffe:matrix.org ;) | 12:34:39 |
Maximus | Mathijs: hello, just lurking | 12:34:59 |
Maximus | and thiking stuff to myself :p | 12:35:19 |
Mathijs | In reply to @nico:f-droid.org One thing that still remains in question beside backups is what to do about with +fdroid:matrix.org. I had a discussion with Coffee (F-Droid) yesterday and we ended up waiting on a comment by Marcus (BubuIIC). I already created +fdroid:f-droid.org and we decided to use it only for "official" stuff, whereas I would like to see something like +fdroid-endorsed:matrix.org which would be pretty much a copy of +fdroid:matrix.org. We could do +endorsed:f-droid.org of course. As long as the f-droid matrix server remains closed anything :f-droid.org implies it's "official" | 12:35:41 |
Mathijs | (though I secretly hope we can open up the f-droid server in the future, but let's not put that on the roadmap yet) | 12:36:25 |
Coffee | I guess if we dedicate both new cfarm servers to our public Matrix instance, we could! :D | 12:38:11 |
Nico Alt | +endorsed:f-droid.org would be fine to me, too. (And I'm hoping too that we can open the server some day.) | 12:38:42 |
Maximus | Mathijs: just an advise: if you ever want to make an open server, definitely use another domain | 12:38:45 |
Coffee | (We'd need a second machine for the backups.) | 12:38:58 |
Maximus | asin, subdomain of f-droid.org. don't open registration on the server you just set-up | 12:39:01 |
Mathijs | that's actually a smart idea | 12:39:24 |
Nico Alt | Maximus: yeah, thanks for that! | 12:39:34 |
Mathijs | 'he said unsurprised' | 12:39:38 |
Maximus | well the whole point of setting up this server is for you guys to have an official namespace (f-droid.org). It would be silly to ruin it | 12:40:18 |
Mathijs | In reply to @Coffee:matrix.org (We'd need a second machine for the backups.) yes, but currently I don't even backup the database on the local machine, which is not a smart thing to do | 12:40:26 |
Nico Alt | Maximus, Mathijs: Is is it possible with Synapse yet to have multiple domains on one instance? Like, with XMPP that works, and I'm wondering if it's supported here, too. | 12:41:44 |
Mathijs | no, not yet | 12:41:55 |
Maximus | not with synapse | 12:41:58 |
Mathijs | possibly not ever with synapse | 12:42:06 |
Nico Alt | 😅 | 12:42:10 |
Mathijs | IIRC it's on the roadmap for dendrite, coming soon(tm) | 12:42:44 |
Mathijs | of course we can run multiple synapse instances on the same VM | 12:43:17 |
Coffee | Anyway, you wanted to decide what to do about +fdroid:matrix.org | 12:44:03 |
Nico Alt | OK. Hopefully Dendrite makes it one day. | 12:44:07 |
Nico Alt | Coffee: Yeah, but Marcus (BubuIIC) said he needs some time. | 12:44:29 |
Mathijs | either that, or max gets mxhsd running :p | 12:44:30 |
Maximus | it will be ready sooner than dendrite, don't worry | 12:44:50 |
Nico Alt | Allow me a backlog comment to _hc:
once reproducible builds are widespread, then it is clearly yes [to use those gcc machines for official builds]
That basically sums up my opinion, too. Currently I'm one of the ones against that, but if we could somehow verify the builds produced by those machines, I'm all in.

+1, basically | 12:47:55 |
Coffee | In reply to @eighthave:matrix.org For example, I suck at IRC chanops and matrix ops, so I'd like to be a regular user there. And backlogging to this, I'm available to do IRC chanops if needed. | 12:49:34 |
